If it's possible to upgrade your CPU without having to replace the motherboard it would probably be a good investment, short of a whole new system. And of course, make sure it's set to use all of it's cores. It's a long shot, but it might be worth checking in the Motherboard settings to make sure your PC is using the RX 580 and not the integrated GPU. Also try running in Windowed - Borderless mode. And since each blade has to cast a shadow, that's the other area you can adjust to help. It's a lot of calculations, and it's why turning down grass draw distance has made such a difference for you. For example, it tells the GPU to first display the blade of grass here, then there, then here again, back and forth over and over. The CPU is involved in a lot of math to calculate the physics of all the moving objects on the screen. I'm not that familiar with AMD CPUs or GPUS, but I think your CPU is running at over 3GHz, so it exceeds the recommended speed for SE, but since Enderal is more graphics intensive it may be suffering a little. Maybe your video card software has a way to adjust that. Anisotropic filter adjustment is gone and other things have changed. I had not compared the two launchers until now, but I see they are different. I will see if I can get a bit more leeway by increasing some other settings to compensate for poor grass or no grass at all.Īlso, as I'm far from a technical expert on hardware, would you say upgrading my CPU might have a better impact on Enderal for example? Or is it mostly GPU related? I'm giving it a try right now with it set to "1" and if stutters are only going to be present around Riverville and Ark, then I guess I'll learn to live with it. The only positive results so far are if I put grass draw distance to 0. However all of the options you suggested that I could locate in launcher settings I have already lowered significantly. The thing is, Enderal SE launcher has a bit different options to what there was in Legendary edition one so I'm not sure where to locate some of those. I actually stumbled upon your advice on several different threads when I google searched for people with similar issues to mine. Sacrificing a little bit in graphics quality is well worth the great gaming experience you'll have with Enderal. Changing the shadows settings will almost always improve the frame rate, so if the above settings don't make a big enough difference for you, or you don't like the appearance, play with them a little more, until you find the sweet spot for your CPU/GPU combination. I'm sure you've noticed that its not always the draw distance that slows the FPS, but more often the amount of vegetation in the view. There are so many things moving - every blade of grass, leaf, branch, clouds, water, etc. Do the following:Īnti aliasing - 2, Anisotropic - 4, FXAA - Off, Sky Reflection - off, Shadow Details - Medium, Decal Count - Medium, Shadow Draw distance - 2, Grass draw distance - 4, Details on distant object - Medium, Check all 3 Optimization Tools, Don't check any of the experimental stuff. They made for smooth playing back when I had a GTX 560 ti. Enderal is more demanding than Skyrim, but you shouldn't be having that much trouble with your machine. I have recommended these settings many times, mostly to people with low to middle range spec PCs. But if you'd rather have more grass, give the following a try. If you can live with the zero grass setting then your problem is solved.
